“Baazigar” is a 1993 Bollywood thriller film directed by Abbas-Mustan and starring Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, and Shilpa Shetty in pivotal roles. One interesting and lesser-known fact about the making of this film is that Kajol was not the first choice for the female lead.
Initially, the filmmakers had approached several other actresses, including Juhi Chawla, Raveena Tandon, and Shilpa Shirodkar, for the role of Priya, the female protagonist. However, all of them declined the offer, citing various reasons.
It was only after they saw Kajol’s performance in the film “Bekhudi” that the filmmakers decided to cast her as Priya. The role proved to be a turning point in Kajol’s career, and she went on to become one of the most successful actresses in Bollywood.
Another interesting fact is that the film’s producers initially had reservations about casting Shah Rukh Khan in the lead role of a villain, as they believed that his boy-next-door image would not suit the character. However, Shah Rukh convinced them to take a chance on him, and his performance as the anti-hero proved to be a breakthrough for his career as well.
